Hello my name is Jan Hartley from Cleveland, Tennessee.  Twenty-seven years ago Kathy Prince and I were united in marriage.  God has blessed our lives in many ways.  Our daughter Jade is enrolled in Lee University as she seeks to follow the plan the LORD has for her future.

In January 1998 my life was changed as I went on a medical dental mission to Haiti.  As a Registered Nurse I could see that many of the illnesses could have been prevented by basic hygiene.  In the USA we have clean drinking water.  Soap, shampoo, tooth paste and basic health care products are available in drug, grocery and convenience stores.  In Third World countries, most water is contaminated.  A majority of the population cannot afford basic health care items.  This trip opened my eyes to the fact that the world is in great need both physically and spiritually.

Short term medical dental clinics to the Central American country of Honduras opened my eyes to another need -- evangelism and discipleship.  Small groups of believers met in crowded homes or in the open air.  I felt that God was telling me to do something to remedy the situation.  In February 2003, some generous friends and I founded Third World Church Builders -- a 501c3 ministry.

Sturdy cement block buildings are constructed using materials produced by Honduran factories.  A local Honduran national is in charge of each project and accountable for all funds received -- he must send receipts to Third World Church Builders.  Members of the congregation are involved in the project and feel responsible for maintaining the facility.

Please pray about how God may want to use you to further this ministry.

In Christ,

Jan Hartley
